This is what summer is made for …

Posted in Personal at 4:20 pm by Joe Blubaugh

It wasn’t Summer today, but it was certainly summer.  I got out of work way early, owing no doubt to my long orienteering experience in my youth.  This opened up the afternoon to a whirlwind neighborhood bike tour.  I tried to buy tickets to see The Hold Steady (Sold Out), checked out the local park (lovely place, especially the trail that runs down to the river), and read outside while drinking a cool one.  An absolutely beautiful afternoon.

I’m grateful right now that my apartment is tiny.  It means that I don’t want to just sit in here, which I can easily do in a bigger space.  I hope that it continues to push me outdoors for the remainder of the summer.

Ole Milwaukee, What a Place to Be

Hooray for unsecured access points.  At least I’ll be able to communicate with the outside world while I wait for my internet to get setup.  I am beat - it’s been a long day of moving things in, getting stuff set up, but my room is all tidy and cozy now.  Work starts tomorrow, and the summer will be off to a running start.

In which I allow for a grudging respect of Budweiser

Daniel sets us straight on Bud. I’ll give him this: the man knows his stuff. I still do not like light, watery beers that have to be served icy-cold to keep them from being gross (including Kirin). It’s silly to hate on Bud, I suppose, but there’s also no reason to say that it’s actually good, because it’s not.

My new favorite prayer:

Posted in Personal, Internet at 11:41 am by Joe Blubaugh

I don’t know if you read Achewood or not, but you should. The Friday, May 4 strip contains the only prayer I shall ever pray again:

Hail Mary, full of grace, hallowed be thy name. Thy will be done, thy kingdom come, on amber waves of grain. Amen
