More self-analysis to do →
The more I watch 30 Rock, the more I have to ask myself why I watch it. I’m not sure if the show has just gone off the rails, or if the ugly parts of it were there in the beginning and I just didn’t notice them, but this essay highlights a lot of the things I’ve been having problems with about enjoying the show.
It’s not that Liz Lemon can’t or shouldn’t be a ridiculous person rather than one we as an audience love. I think it’s interesting and awesome that the main character of this show is kind of a terrible, selfish person. I do feel, though, like the show is pandering to my very worst Angry Nerd tendencies. Maybe the me that loved 30 Rock is a worse version of me, and we’re all better off now.
